Description
Colorful depictions of the Earth, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are presented on the silver coins of this beautiful set for children entitled The Solar System. The collection also includes a stunning gold-plated coin featuring the Sun. Issued by the Republic of Belarus, the set comes in a cheerful space-themed presentation box with the coin disposition resembling that of the real planets.
The obverse of each coin represents the image of an ancient sculpture of Atlas holding the Earth on his shoulders against the fragment of the solar system with the Latin inscriptions  - the Solar System. The upper part of the coins comprises the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; the name of the issuing country, the face value, the issuing year and metal fineness are indicated along the rim of these coins.
The excellently crafted reverse sides feature the colored planets of the Solar System with the sun being at the heart of it and the third of them being the one we live on. These astronomical objects all go around the sun in roughly circular orbits that lie in the same plane. The sun is considered the largest object in the solar system, containing 99.8 percent of its mass.
