Huge Sevres Chateau Des Tuileries Porcelain Ormolu Vase Urn 28" Artist S. C 1846

Description

Being offered for your consideration is this large Sevres Chateau Des Tuileries Ormolu Vase and Lid circa 1846. Accented in gilt bronze with a large center portrait of a young woman and suitor. The hand painted portrait is initialed by the artist EMJ. The vase is in 3 pieces the top, the body and the base.  The body slides onto a long bronze shaft and sits securely, with some play, which also allows the body to turn . Large gilt bronze sculptured handles with swiveling oval rings adorn each side. Both the lid and base are marked under the glaze with the
Sevres
crossed "L"s in blue with the letter "S" and the lid also carries the red under glazed Chateau Des Tuileries mark. The piece is in remarkable well cared for condition with no nips, chips or cracks with
wear commensurate with age to the gilt metal and virtually zero loss of paint.
The blue is of a high deep gloss and in wonderful condition as well.
We have found some newer interior bolts at the handles and shaft rod with added glue or silicon at the bottom of each handle, presumably as a preventative, to keep the handles from swiveling and scratching the paint
should the bolts ever loosened
. This is a large piece measuring 28 1/2" tall and 12" wide at the handles. This lovely piece is sure to add beauty and value to any decor or collection!
