This is a reproduction of a German WWII early war canteen screw cap with rubber gasket and aluminum rivet. The early canteen screwcap is often seen on the aluminum canteen bodies. The mold was made from an original cap. This is your chance to repair your strap. The rivet it a bit longer purposefully so you can cut it to the proper size to accommodate the strap you have. Then you have to tap the aluminum rivet from the inside to widen the end to secure it to the cap just like the originals were.
