    Description

Offered is a fine and unique French porcelain soap dish on a gilt bronze ornate footed ormolu stand. The pure white porcelain dish has a gilt rim around the top and gilt fleur-di-lis decorative designs on the outer and and inner sides. The dish sits on a gilt ormolu stand with its sides featuring a delicate pattern of embossed swirls topped by a parapet design. Each corner of the stand is adorned with with a classical maiden bust that forms the footing. I do not know the maker of this lovely piece. The base is unmarked except for the letters/numbers 'MV-2797'. I estimate this piece dates to the mid-20th century (c1940's/1950's).
The porcelain dish measures 5 7/8" in length x 3 3/4 in width x 1 7/16" in height; on the stand, the dish is 2 7/8" in height.
The dish is in very good estate condition. The porcelain has no cracks, chips, hairlines or repairs. The ormolu base has no apparent damage. There is scattered light age-related oxidation around the inner shelf of the stand where the porcelain dish sits.
Thanks and please let me know if you have questions.,
